Migration

Switch from Fastmail to Airfree Mail

Both Fastmail and Airfree Mail use open standards (IMAP, CalDAV, CardDAV), which makes migration straightforward. Transfer your email, contacts, and calendar in about 10 minutes.

Step-by-step guide

From Fastmail to Airfree Mail in 7 steps

Open standards make migration clean and reversible — your Fastmail account stays active throughout.

Create your Airfree Mail account

Sign up at airfreemail.com. If you have a custom domain on Fastmail, you can keep the same addresses by updating your MX records.

Generate a Fastmail app password

In Fastmail, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Integrations → API tokens / app passwords. Create a new token with IMAP and CalDAV/CardDAV access.

Import email via IMAP

In Airfree Mail, go to Settings → Import → IMAP Migration. Enter imap.fastmail.com (port 993), your email address, and the app password you created.

Export contacts from Fastmail

In Fastmail, go to Contacts → All contacts → Export as vCard (.vcf). Then in Airfree Mail go to Contacts → Import → Upload vCard.

Export calendar from Fastmail

In Fastmail Calendar, select each calendar → Export as .ics file. Import into Airfree Mail Calendar via Settings → Import → Calendar (.ics).

Update MX records

When you are ready to cut over, update your domain's MX records to our servers. We generate the exact records for your DNS provider.

Cancel Fastmail

Once email is flowing through Airfree Mail and you have verified everything is correct, you can safely cancel your Fastmail subscription.
